Live Intently. Travel Purposefully.
Vajra Sol was founded to offer a new boutique style of travel where yoga and wellness merge with active and adventure trips. As yoga retreat expert facilitators, Vajra Sol is now the most established retreat company operating in Costa Rica and other destinations.
Our mission is to facilitate a rejuvenating and transformative experience for each guest. A conscious yet carefree mindset is encouraged while an awakened awareness of Self, which often gets lost in the busyness of life, is inherent.
When we travel it is who we meet along the way that creates the heart of the experience. At all our destinations we encourage interaction with the local community and we include activities and tours that educate on the local culture such as food, events, customs, and traditions.
Since 2006, with 1,000+ yoga-inspired travelers who have journeyed on our retreats, it remains our intention to be small-scale and personal.
About Community
As we become more independent individuals, we increasingly need and value community. On our retreats, we connect solo travelers, soul seekers, first-time world explorers, and seasoned adventurers.
Vajra Sol has become a circle of friends fortuitously brought together by the common thread of yoga. The circle continues to grow as people find their way to yoga and seek out a more meaningful and connected way to travel and live.
We invite you to join our ever-growing community that seeks out new places to explore, practice yoga, and create memorable travel experiences together.
Vajra [VAHJ – rah] is the Sanskrit word for eternal strength and spiritual power.
Sol [sohl] means sun in Spanish and is the source of all life, the Supreme Light.
Vajra Sol Founder
Sandra Tedeschi
While on a sabbatical from her previous career, an idea was ignited that serendipitously led Sandra to change her path. In 2006, beginning a new venture, she founded Vajra Sol.
Prior to stepping into the realm of yoga retreats, Sandra worked in various countries in South Asia, Africa, and Washington D.C. in the international humanitarian aid field focusing on emergency and relief operations. From her experiences working in demanding and high-stress work environments, she learned the value of a regular yoga practice to maintain balance in daily living. She has a degree in Foreign Language and International Trade and a Masters in International Public Health and Development. Sandra is based in Costa Rica and travels often to run retreats and to explore new destinations for novice to seasoned and ready-to-go travelers.
Yoga Experience
Sandra has been practicing yoga for over 26 years and teaches a Vinyasa Flow style with influences from other types of yoga and esteemed teachers that she has studied with over the years. She currently studies under the Himalayan and Tantra traditions. In her classes, Sandra creates a welcoming and nurturing environment and encourages a balance between the light-heartedness, challenge, and dedication to the practice. She teaches for all levels in her classes and on retreats, from the beginner to the seasoned yoga practitioner.
Sandra approaches her personal practice and the philosophy of yoga as an ever-present part of each day. She is dedicated to facilitating a memorable and soulful getaway for those who seek a nourishing respite from their daily routine and to gain deeper insight into their life path.
