2025 – new dates TBA

Join Vajra Sol for a life-changing Patagonia yoga retreat in the pristine, wild, and stunning Andes Mountains of Argentina.

Patagonia is a remote and rugged region that spans the most southern part of South America both in Argentina and Chile. It is often referred to as “the end of the world”. On our Patagonia yoga adventure, explore the majestic mountains on guided hikes. Compliment your day with inspiring yoga sessions. Enjoy gourmet meals with new friends before falling asleep under the star-filled southern hemisphere sky.

Vajra Sol’s Patagonia retreat is featured in National Geographic Traveller’s first Latin America Collection in 2024. This will be our 6th retreat in the pristine wilds of Patagonia. We can’t wait to share this epic trip with you.

This retreat is ideal for those who enjoy a more adventurous and active trip and are keen on hiking and being in the outdoors.

Retreat Highlights

yoga

Get ready to drop into soulful yoga sessions with majestic mountain views. The harmonizing yoga we practice is Hatha and vinyasa to energize and calm the body and mind. We will restore with gentler practices and guided meditation. All yoga will be led by your retreat guide, Sandra, and will be accessible to all levels.

hiking

The best way to explore Patagonia is on the trail, with an expert guide and your fellow travelers. We visit an authentic Patagonian estancia (ranch) to connect to the local culture. You may even catch a glimpse of an Andean condor. While the mountains appear massive, we will not be at high altitudes. We stay at about 1,300 feet above sea level.

Mountain Lodge

Remote and first class, we will stay five nights at a boutique mountain lodge in El Chalten, offering sweeping views of the mountains and valley. In El Cafalate we spend two nights at a top-rated hotel with pampering amenities (jacuzzi, pool, spa). Both hotels are located in easy walking access to town to explore at your leisure.

About the Retreat

Patagonia Mountain Adventure

Our retreat takes place in the southern region of Patagonia in Los Glaciares National Park. We meet in El Calafate, the gateway town to Patagonia. From there we transfer to our base for the next five nights in El Chalten, a 2.5-hour drive away and surrounded by the Andean Mountains. After settling in, our days are spent practicing yoga, hiking, and of course, enjoying the incredible views. Experience a thrilling outing at an authentic Patagonian estancia, mountain biking, horseback riding, or chilling in the mountain sun. The next two days we stay in El Calafate from where we tour the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier, which is part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, one of the largest in the world.

Because Patagonia is in the southern hemisphere, February is in the heart of summer and the best time to visit.

How do I get to the retreat destination?

Book your international flight to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), the capital of Argentina.

Buenos Aires has two airports (about an hour’s drive apart from each other). Most domestic flights depart from Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery airport (AEP). From there, take a domestic flight to El Calafate (FTE). Plan to arrive no later than 12 PM on February 20. We will pick you up at the airport.

For the departure day, February 27, the retreat ends after breakfast. Transfers are included to the airport your outbound flight from El Calafate.

A passport valid for at least six months from the arrival date in Argentina is required (check your passport’s expiration date). Currently, an entry visa is not required for U.S., Canadian, and most European citizens.

For all other nationalities check with your country’s embassy to confirm current entry requirements and travel.

Who is the retreat leader and what is the yoga like?

Sandra Tedeschi leads the retreat. She has a long-held affinity for majestic mountain places and has been taken by the Patagonian landscape and culture since her first visit in 2010.

The yoga session themes will be inspired by the striking beauty and exquisiteness of the nature setting in which we will be practicing. Sandra teaches an alignment-based Hatha and vinyasa yoga, which is a more active and dynamic practice. Some classes are restorative to focus on the yin energy. Guided meditation and pranayama (breathwork) are also included.

We will have one 1.5-hour yoga session a day. On the full-day trek we may not have yoga depending if time permits.

All levels of yoga experience are welcome.

What is the weather like in Patagonia?

Argentina is in the southern hemisphere so the seasons are opposite from North America. December – March is the summer time in southern Patagonia. Days are typical beautiful blue skies with an average of 50s-70sF and evenings cooler. The weather in the Patagonia region can be extreme and unpredictable so it is essential to be prepared for a diversity of conditions. Upon booking the retreat you will receive an extensive information package to help plan for the trip.

What is the minimum/maximum group size?

The retreat is limited to 15 persons to ensure an optimal group travel experience and personalized attention for each guest. The minimum required to run the retreat is eight persons. Many guests who join our retreats are single/solo travelers. Please feel very welcome to come on your own. It will be an incredible experience!

What is the reservation, payment and cancelation policy?
  • Travel insurance is required for this trip.*

A non-refundable US $1,000 deposit confirms your reservation.

The full payment due date is November 6, 2024. Should you need to cancel your reservation before this date you will receive a refund for payment made less the deposit. Should you need to cancel after the final payment due date, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund, transfer, or credit. The exception is if we can rebook your spot. In this case, the deposit less $150 can be refunded, or we can offer a full credit towards a future Vajra Sol retreat within one year. It is not guaranteed that your spot will be rebooked. No refund or credit will be given for arriving late, departing the retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, country travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled, we will offer a rescheduled date for the retreat. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control. If you are unable to join at the rescheduled date, a portion of your payment may be applicable for a transfer to a different retreat in the future. This will be determined at the time and depends on factors such as how far out it is from the retreat date.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel a retreat for nonforce majeure reasons, a full refund will be given. Vajra Sol will not be held accountable for expenses incurred by the guest for any type of cancelation.

If you have any questions about your travel plans, feel free to contact us with have any questions.

This cancelation policy is subject to change until a reservation is confirmed.

Guest Reviews

trip advisor

“By far, the best was meeting new friends and spending time with new people getting to know them all over a week of learning, laughing, playing and socializing. We had a truly magnificent week overall. This was our 5th trip with Vajra Sol we always look forward to Sandra’s next adventure!”

- Chris, Ontario

Our goal was to get deeper into our (beginning) yoga practice in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We joined a wonderful group, who quickly became friends. Sandra was outstanding as a teacher … We were very diverse in age, experience, gender and background, yet Sandra connected with us all very quickly and (seemingly) effortlessly. As a wonderful bonus, she organized complementary activities for each of us that fit beautifully with our interests and abilities.

- Helen & Bill, Montana

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this experience, it is life changing … There is a perfect mix of relaxation and activity. Sandra is an amazing yoga teacher and teaches to all levels. I am an experienced yogi but there were also those who had little to no experience and they did great. The staff was warm and friendly. The food was superb. Definitely do not hesitate to book this trip.
