Retreat Highlights

yoga

Get ready to drop into soulful yoga sessions with majestic mountain views. We enjoy daily yoga practices in the Yoga Dome looking out to the vast Patagonian pampa. Our morning practice is more energizing with vinyasa flow yoga. In the afternoon we restore with a more gentle practice and guided meditation sessions. All yoga will be led by your retreat guide, Sandra, and will be accessible to all levels.

hiking

The best way to explore Patagonia is on foot, with an expert guide and your fellow travelers. Hikes include an excursion to Laguna Azul, or Blue Lagoon, for a 3 mile nature walk, a visit to Grey Lake and Glacier that will include boat trip, and maybe a glimpse of an Andean condor, and finally, a 14 mile trek to the Towers’ base. Torres del Paine consists of three gigantic granite monoliths, the remains of a great cirque sheared away by the forces of glacial ice.

ecocamp domes

Remote and first class, EcoCamp Patagonia is an innovative leader in environmentally sustainable design, creating the world’s first lodge in geodesic form in 2001. They offer accommodations inspired by the region’s ancient nomadic inhabitants. All domes are immersed in nature, resistant to the Patagonian natural elements, cozy and warm, and have ceiling windows to look up at the starry night sky.

About the Retreat

Patagonia Mountain Adventure

Our Patagonia yoga retreat is hosted at a multi-award winning lodge in the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park. The group meets in the gateway town to Patagonia, Punta Arenas. There, we stay one night at a 4-star hotel. The following day, the group transfers to EcoCamp Patagonia, our home for six nights. After settling in, our days are spent practicing yoga, hiking in the park, and exploring the beautiful Patagonia region.

This is our most physically demanding yoga retreat, culminating with an optional 14-mile trek to the base of the Torres del Paine monoliths.

Because Chile is in the southern hemisphere, November through April is the spring to summer season and best time to visit.

The area’s remoteness provides the added bonus of being able to disconnect from technology. This allows for a week of digital detox.

How do I get to the retreat destination?

Book your international flight to Santiago (SCL), the capital of Chile. From Santiago, fly to the southern town of Punta Arenas (PUQ). Plan to arrive no later than mid-afternoon on the first day. You will be picked up and transferred to the hotel where we have our welcome dinner and spend the night.

For the departure day, book your flight from Punta Arenas with a departure time not before 4:30 pm. If you need to get on an earlier flight, there is an extra charge for the transfer from EcoCamp to Punta Arenas.

A passport valid for at least six months from the arrival date in Chile is required (check your passport’s expiration date). Currently an entry visa is not required for U.S., Canadian, and most European citizens.

For all nationalities check with your country’s embassy in Chile to confirm current entry requirements and travel.

What is the weather like in Patagonia?

Chile is in the southern hemisphere so the seasons are opposite from North America. November is the beginning of summer time. Days can be beautiful blue skies with an average of 50s-60sF and evenings cooler. The weather in the Patagonia region can be extreme and unpredictable so it is essential to be prepared for a diversity of conditions. Upon booking the retreat you will receive an extensive information package to help plan for the trip.

What is the minimum/maximum group size?

The retreat is limited to 16 persons to ensure an optimal group travel experience and personalized attention for each guest. The minimum required to run the retreat is six persons. Many guests who join our retreats are single/solo travelers. Please feel very welcome to come on your own. It will be an incredible experience!

What if I am not able to do the las Torres trek?

Some retreat guests are not able or do not want to do the 14-mile (22 km) round-trip trek to las Torres. As with all activities and tours, this is of course optional. Some guests choose to do another guided activity offered by EcoCamp that day (included in the retreat package) or take a rest and massage day. If you want to join the retreat but are not sure if this trek is for you, no problem. You are free to opt-out. You can also decide the day before the trek if you want to go or not too.

What is the reservation, payment and cancelation policy?
  • Travel insurance is required for this trip.*

A US $800 deposit confirms your reservation. Full payment is due 90 days before the retreat. Should you need to cancel your reservation before the final payment due date, you will receive a refund for payment made less the deposit amount.

Should you need to cancel after the final payment due date, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund, transfer, or credit. The only exception is if a replacement can be found. No refund or credit will be given for arriving late, departing the retreat early, or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, country travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled, we will offer a rescheduled date for the retreat. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control. If you are unable to join at the rescheduled date, a portion of your payment may be applicable for a transfer to a different retreat in the future. This will be determined at the time and depends on factors such as how far out it is from the retreat date.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel a retreat for nonforce majeure reasons, a full refund will be given. Vajra Sol will not be held accountable for expenses incurred by the guest for any type of cancelation.

If you have any questions about your travel plans, feel free to contact us with have any questions.

This cancelation policy is subject to change until a reservation is confirmed.

Travel Insurance for Your Patagonia Yoga Retreat

Travel insurance is required for the Patagonia Adventure Yoga Retreat. We will be in a remote area and should there be any medical emergency, you will need to have coverage for evacuation, if needed. Additionally, you will want coverage for any unplanned changes or events that may occur before or during your trip, such as trip cancelation, delayed flights, lost luggage, and more.

We recommend travel insurance with IMGlobal (International Medical Group). You may customize what you need for travel and/or international emergency medical insurance. Check with your home health insurance provider to see if and for what you are covered when traveling outside the U.S.

Guest Reviews

trip advisor

“By far, the best was meeting new friends and spending time with new people getting to know them all over a week of learning, laughing, playing and socializing. We had a truly magnificent week overall. This was our 5th trip with Vajra Sol we always look forward to Sandra’s next adventure!”

- Chris, Ontario

Our goal was to get deeper into our (beginning) yoga practice in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We joined a wonderful group, who quickly became friends. Sandra was outstanding as a teacher … We were very diverse in age, experience, gender and background, yet Sandra connected with us all very quickly and (seemingly) effortlessly. As a wonderful bonus, she organized complementary activities for each of us that fit beautifully with our interests and abilities.

- Helen & Bill, Montana

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this experience, it is life changing … There is a perfect mix of relaxation and activity. Sandra is an amazing yoga teacher and teaches to all levels. I am an experienced yogi but there were also those who had little to no experience and they did great. The staff was warm and friendly. The food was superb. Definitely do not hesitate to book this trip.
