How do I get to the retreat location?

If you are flying to northern California, book your plane ticket to one of these airports.

  • Santa Rosa/Sonoma airport (STS ) – about 2-hour drive to Little River (92 mi.)
  • San Francisco international airport (SFO) – about 3-hour drive (172 mi.)

Part of visiting this area of northern California is the scenic road trip there. If you drive from San Francisco north to Mendocino, an option is to go along the coast via Highway 1. You’ll find a stunning shoreline and a collection of beautiful beaches along the way. If your driving from Santa Rosa, you’ll pass through rolling hills of vineyards and redwood forests.

Check-in is at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 13

Check-out is at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 17

It is recommended to drive your own vehicle or a rental car to get to Mendocino. Being in a more remote location, shuttle services are more pricey than a car rental. It will also give you more freedom to explore the area.

If you are open to a ride-share, please let us know and we’ll help coordinate with others on the retreat, either their vehicle or join with you. (We cannot guarantee ride-shares.)

Complete the INQUIRE form below to receive the full retreat details by email.

What is the yoga like?

The morning classes will be a mix of conditioning movements and vinyasa flow to revitalize one’s energy, enhance flexibility and mobility, and build strength.

Afternoon classes will be restorative yoga, meditation, breathwork, and other non-asana practices.

Each class is specifically sequenced around a theme based on the Hatha and Tantra traditions.

Classes are structured so that participants may learn and advance their practice. All levels of yoga experience are welcome, from beginners to more seasoned practitioners.

What are Mendocino's highlights?

Mendocino village is distinguished by its status as a National Historic Preservation District, a recognition that protects nearly the entire town as a living museum of 19th-century architecture. Beyond its preservation, the region has recently earned major national honors for its wine and tourism.

What is the climate and September weather like on the California's Mendocino Coast?

Coastal Mendocino has a cool, maritime climate and generally is steady, fresh, and rarely extreme. The weather in September is widely considered one of the best months to visit (that’s why we chose this time for the retreat). It’s typically the warmest, driest, and most stable time of year. It feels mild and comfortable, rarely hot, with cooler air once the sun drops.

Temperatures stay mild year-round. Typically mornings may begin with mist that gradually clears to sun, creating a soft, shifting atmosphere throughout the day. Daytime average temperatures are in the mid 60s to low 70s F and evening temperatures are in the low 50s F.

What is the group size for the retreat?

The retreat group size is limited to about 16 persons (depending on single/double rooms). Many of our retreat guests are solo travelers. Please feel very welcome to join on your own.

What is the booking, payment, and cancellation policy?

If you are ready to join us for the Mendocino Yoga + Nature Retreat in Northern California September 13 – 17, 2026, please complete an online Reservation Form which includes a non-refundable US $600 deposit to confirm your spot.

Payment and Cancelation Policy

Full payment is due by June 10, 2026. Should you need to cancel your reservation before this date you will receive a refund for payment made less the deposit. Should you need to cancel after the final payment date, for whatever reason we will not be able to provide a refund or credit. The only exception is if your spot can be filled a refund will be given less $150 cancelation fee.

No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing a retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, government travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled we will offer alternative dates to reschedule the retreat within one year. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control. If the traveler is unable to join at the rescheduled date, full or partial credit of their payment may be applicable towards another Vajra Sol retreat. This will be determined at the time as it depends on how far out it is from the retreat start date.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel the retreat for a non-force majeure reason, a full refund will be given. Vajra Sol will not be held liable for any expenses incurred by the participant for a retreat cancelled either by the participant or by Vajra Sol.

Should I buy trip insurance for the retreat?

Purchasing trip insurance is recommended for coverage of any unplanned changes that may occur before or during your trip, such as trip cancelation, delayed flights, lost luggage, emergency medical assistance, and more.

Every detail was taken care of – Great combination of yoga, touring, wonderful food and accommodations and plenty of extras! First trip and likely not the last!

Mark, Idaho

The planning for our adventures was exhaustive & flawless while the yoga was threaded into every moment. Sandra teaches that yoga is not just about the asana or what you do on your mat. It’s a way of life worth living with others. As for the accommodations, food & service – everything was top notch.

Christina, Labrador, Canada

This was my third retreat with Sandra, I have been to Costa Rica twice and enjoyed my retreats so much there. I again traveled solo to this retreat and felt safe and confident the entire time. If you’re looking for a superbly organized adventure, mixed with spirituality and fun then do yourself a favour and go on retreat with Vajra Sol!
