Retreat Highlights

Western Ranch Style

Located about an hour from Aspen, Colorado, our unique mountain retreat location is nestled in the trees of the Frying Pan River Valley, about 8,300 feet above sea level. The historic property has polished and elegant touches, modern art installations, and a barn built in 1893. It’s been an operating guest ranch since 1941.

Yoga

Nature and yoga are natural companions. Yoga is a fitting activity to encourage us to turn inward, to nourish the body through movement, and rejuvenate one’s energy. Included are enlivening vinyasa practices and restorative yoga to settle the mind. Classes are designed for all levels. Our studio is nestled in an Aspen tree grove.

Mountain Adventure

The high Rockies have so much to offer, including peace and tranquility. Allow nature to stir creativity and calm within you. Like all of our retreats, you have ample time to explore or rest in between yoga sessions and delicious wholesome meals. Enjoy a mountain hike, play in the river, SUP at the local reservoir, horseback ride, or visit the world-famous Maroon Bells.

What is the yoga like?

The retreat leader and yoga teacher is Sandra Tedeschi. The 2-hr morning classes will be a mix of conditioning movements and vinyasa flow to enliven one’s energy, enhance flexibility and mobility, and build strength. Classes are structured so that participants may learn and advance their practice. Each class is specifically sequenced around a theme based in the Hatha and Tantra traditions.

Afternoon classes will be restorative yoga, meditation, breathwork, and other non-asana practices.

All levels of yoga experience are welcome, from beginners to more seasoned practitioners, to those who are in the professed “I-am-so-out-of-practice” state. The precept is: Come as you are. Start where you are.

What is the menu like and can special dietary be accommodated?

The retreat includes daily brunches and dinners. Meals are catered by the ranch staff and are primarily vegetarian. There is no restaurant on property and we recommend bringing snacks, drinks, and something for a light lunch for three days. We will also provide a snack bag. In the main lodge, there is a small store to buy snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic). The nearest grocery store is in Basalt 40-minutes drive.

Please inquire about special dietary needs to ensure they can be accommodated.

What are the additional activities?

There are incredibly scenic hiking trails starting right at the lodge, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Also, there are river dips, kayaking, and SUPing. We recommend hiking Maroon Bells, about an hour’s drive from the ranch near Aspen.

What can I expect with the weather?

July in the high mountains of Colorado tends to have beautiful sunny days with daytime average temperatures in the low-mid 70sF and at night mid 40sF. The perfect place to be away from the hot summer heat.

What is the group size for the retreat?

The retreat is limited to 16 persons to maintain general comfort for group travel and to allow for personalized attention to each participant. This retreat is designed for the yoga-inspired traveler who appreciates finely curated travel experiences with a small group of like-minded people. We take care of all the planning. You only need to book your plane ticket and pack your bags. Solo travelers are very welcome!

The minimum group size to run a retreat is eight persons.

What is the payment and cancellation policy?

A non-refundable US $500 deposit is required to confirm your spot.

Full payment is due by June 1. Should you need to cancel your reservation before this date you will receive a refund for payment made less the deposit. Should you need to cancel after the final payment date, for whatever reason we will not be able to provide a refund or credit. The only exception is if your spot can be filled a refund will be given less $150 cancelation fee.

No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing a retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, government travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled we will offer alternative dates to reschedule the retreat within one year. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel the retreat a full refund of payment made will be given. Vajra Sol will not be held liable for any expenses incurred by the participant for a retreat canceled either by the participant or by Vajra Sol.

Should I buy trip insurance for the retreat?

Purchasing trip insurance is strongly recommended for coverage of any unplanned changes that may occur before or during your trip, such as trip cancelation, delayed flights, lost luggage, emergency medical assistance, and more.

Every detail was taken care of – Great combination of yoga, touring, wonderful food and accommodations and plenty of extras! First trip and likely not the last!

Mark, Idaho

The planning for our adventures was exhaustive & flawless while the yoga was threaded into every moment. Sandra teaches that yoga is not just about the asana or what you do on your mat. It’s a way of life worth living with others. As for the accommodations, food & service – everything was top notch.

Christina, Labrador, Canada

This was my third retreat with Sandra, I have been to Costa Rica twice and enjoyed my retreats so much there. I again traveled solo to this retreat and felt safe and confident the entire time. If you’re looking for a superbly organized adventure, mixed with spirituality and fun then do yourself a favour and go on retreat with Vajra Sol!
