How do I get to the retreat location?

Book your international flight to San Jose international airport (code SJO), near the capital of Costa Rica.

For accommodations near the airport, we recommend the Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen. They will provide airport transfers for you to/from the hotel. Or check on booking.com for other options.

On the first day book your Sansa flight from the San Jose domestic airport to Golfito (GLF), or another morning flight to either Golfito or Puerto Jimenez (PJM), the two local airports near Playa Cativo Lodge. The flight is 45 minutes. Book with Sansa Airlines www.flysansa.com

The retreat ends after breakfast the last day.

For the departure day, book your return flight to San Jose for mid to late morning. For a comfortable connection with your international flight, it is best to allow three hours between the domestic flight arrival time and international flight departure time. If you plan to stay longer on the Osa Peninsula, the lodge’s check-out time is at 11 AM and a boat transfer will bring you to Puerto Jimenez.

Who is the retreat leader and what is the yoga like?

The retreat leader is Sandra Tedeschi.  She guides you through body and mind-nurturing yoga classes designed for mixed levels. Each class is specifically sequenced around a theme based on the Hatha and Tantra traditions. Also included are restorative yoga and guided meditation.

All levels of yoga experience are welcome, from beginners to more seasoned practitioners. The precept is: Come as you are. Start where you are.

What is the weather like on the Osa Peninsula?

March is the heart of summer season in the Osa Peninsula of southern Costa Rica. This region has a tropical climate and the temperatures average from mid-high 80s F during the day and mid 70s in the evenings.

We only offer our retreats at the most favorable times of the year.

What are the meals like?

Daily breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included in the retreat. The chef creates locally sourced and authentically Costa Rican cuisine at the eco-lodge’s restaurant. Produce is cultivated from their organic garden and seafood is caught fresh daily.

Special dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten or dairy-free, and allergies can be accommodated. Please let us know when you book your retreat. Be prepared to eat well!

What is the average group size? Can I join on my own?

The retreat is limited to 12 persons to ensure quality and personalized attention for each guest. There is a minimum of six persons required to run a retreat. Many guests are single/solo travelers. Please feel very welcome to come on your own. It will be an incredible experience!

What is the payment and cancelation policy?

We recommend signing up for this retreat at least three months in advance. We host the retreat at an exclusive property and reservations are booked far in advance. We have rooms blocked for a limited time prior to the retreat.

A non-refundable US $1,000 deposit to confirm your spot. Once your reservation is confirmed we will send you a pre-arrival handout to help you prepare for your trip.

Full payment is due by January 28, 2022.

Should you need to cancel your reservation before the final payment due date you will receive a refund for payment made less the deposit. Should you need to cancel after the final payment due date, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund or credit.

No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing a retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel a retreat for a non-force majeure reason a full refund will be given.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, government travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled we will offer alternative dates to reschedule the retreat within one year. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control.

If the traveler is unable to join at the rescheduled date, full or partial credit of their payment may be applicable towards another Vajra Sol retreat. This will be determined at the time as it depends on how far out it is from the retreat start date.

We strongly advise on the purchase of travel insurance at the time of booking your retreat in the case of any unexpected events or changes to your plans before or during your trip.

Check travel insurance with iTravelInsured which is affiliated with IMG (International Medical Group). You may customize what you need for travel and/or international emergency medical insurance.

“Beyond amazing….an enlightening journey in a magical place. Thank you Sandra Tedeschi for all you do. I loved my yoga and SUP retreat. Well done! Highly recommended.”

- Andrew, Laguna Beach, California

“Even before I left New York, she provided so many helpful tips. And once I got to the retreat I felt so safe and taken care of in every moment. Between surfing and yoga, we had a luxurious amount of downtime, .. I haven’t felt so calm and happy in years! Sandra brought in mindfulness elements to the yoga practice, including some awesome breathing exercises, which I loved. It was a week of “bliss”.”

- Haley, New York City

“This was an amazing retreat with a bunch of like-minded travelers. I have been on a few yoga retreats and this was my favorite. We were all solo travelers except for a mother/daughter pair. This was a relaxed retreat that gave you the freedom to do as much or a little as you wanted. .. I had a wonderful week to escape the east coast winter. ”
