Yoga + Culture

Fuse yoga with a cultural and spiritual journey to the Sacred Valley, highlighted by a tour of the mystical archeological wonder, Machu Picchu.

Now in our 10th year of retreats to Peru, Vajra Sol invites you on an eight day journey to an ancient and spiritual land. Our trip begins in the culturally rich city of Cusco, the gateway to the Sacred Valley. Spend five days exploring ancient archeological sites and vibrant Quechua markets in this beautiful valley surrounded by the Andes Mountains before heading to Machu Picchu. Along the way, connect to the powerful healing energy of Mother Nature through yoga.

Retreat Highlights

A daily yoga session, including meditation, will be held during our stay at the retreat lodge. We will practice Vinyasa flow in combination with restorative yoga. There is a powerful energy that is felt in the Sacred Valley, a conducive setting to reflect on a deeper level about one’s yoga practice. The fresh Andes mountain air energizes the mind and body and the inspiring views give a sense of freedom from time.

cultural immersion

In addition to exploring Incan archeological sites in the Sacred Valley, enjoy free time to hike, receive a massage, choose an outdoor adventure, or shop for local arts and crafts in the colorful open-air markets. As a group, we will have the unique pleasure to experience an Andean ceremony led by traditional healers. In Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a walking tour will highlight the city’s ornate cathedrals and narrow cobblestone streets.

machu picchu

After spending the night near Machu Picchu, we depart in the early morning to greet the sun as it rises. The retreat group then ascends to the sunlit terraces of the historical Incan center of spiritual and political power, Machu Picchu. Enjoy a special guided tour of the “Lost City of the Inca,” the site of a magnificent and mysterious civilization. In the afternoon, we return by train to Ollantaytambo and then on to Cusco.

How do I get to the retreat destination?

Peru is currently a very popular travel destination and we advise booking early for international and domestic flights. Book your flight to Lima, the capital of Peru. The airport code is LIMDepending on the arrival time of your international flight into Lima, (many are night flights from the U.S./Canada arriving in Lima late evening or early morning), you may have to spend the night in Lima. Many US airlines, Copa Air, LATAM Airlines and Avianca Airlines fly into Lima.

Allow at least 2-3 hours in between your international and domestic flights in case of delays. Take a domestic flight from Lima to Cusco. The airport code is CUZ. Flight time from Lima to Cusco is one hour. It is recommended to book these domestic flights in the morning as weather is typically better and there is less chance of flight delay or cancelation

A valid passport is required for all foreign visitors to Peru. An entry visa is not required for American or Canadian nationals. Please inquire with the nearest Peruvian consulate for entry requirements for other nationalities.

What is the weather like in Peru?

September is the dry season in the Peruvian highlands and it is typically sunny with blue skies. Temperatures are in the low-mid 70s F during the day and 40-50s F in the evenings. It is best to prepare for all weather conditions including rain, cold mountain conditions and warm days.

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Full payment is due no less than 60 days prior to the first day of the retreat. Should you need to cancel your reservation 60 days or more prior to this date, you will receive a refund for payment made less the $500 deposit.

Should you need to cancel less than 60 days prior to this date, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund or credit unless we can fill your spot. No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing a retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate. In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel a retreat a full refund will be given. We strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance.

trip advisor

“My husband and I recently returned from Vajra Sol’s trip to Peru. Sandra led such an amazing retreat and it was obvious from the start. Everything was taken care of from the moment we touched down in Cusco until our return back to the airport. We are already looking forward to joining her on a future retreat!”

Vera, New York

“This was my 5th time with Vajra Sol and I loved every moment of it. Sandra is over accommodating to your needs. The scene and location of your villa and yoga experience is out of this world. Trust me, this is the best retreat out there for YOGA, SUPING and Surfing.”

Steve P, Conneticut

“Go on one of Vajra Sol’s retreats; you won’t regret it. You may even
conquer some fears and surprise yourself, like I did. You will make new friends and have memories to last a lifetime! This was a life changing experience for me!”
