The trip begins and ends in the city of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Explore ancient archeological sites and vibrant Quechua markets surrounded by the Andes Mountains. Connect to the powerful healing energy of Mother Nature through yoga.

This is the 12th year we offer the Peru yoga retreat which is featured in National Geographic Traveller’s first Latin America Collection in 2024.

Retreat Highlights

cultural immersion

We begin our retreat at an Andean lodge nestled along the Urubamba River. We explore Incan archeological sites in the Sacred Valley and visit colorful open-air markets of local arts and crafts. In Cusco, we go on a walking tour with highlights of the city’s ornate architecture, rich history, and amazing cuisine.

yoga

A daily hatha vinyasa yoga session is held during our stay at the retreat lodge. The tranquility of the Sacred Valley is an inspiring setting to reflect openly and to more deeply tune in to one’s yoga practice. Experience the revitalizing fresh air of the Andes Mountains. We welcome all experience levels of yoga.

machu picchu

We tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu situated between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon. It was the Incan center of spiritual and political power to a magnificent and mysterious civilization in the 1500s. Learn about the fascinating history and why it is known as “the Lost City of the Inca”.

How do I get to the retreat destination?

Peru is currently a very popular travel destination and we advise booking early for international and domestic flights. Book your flight to Lima, the capital of Peru. The airport code is LIMDepending on the arrival time of your international flight into Lima, (many are night flights from the U.S./Canada arriving in Lima late evening or early morning), you may have to spend the night in Lima. Many US airlines, Copa Air, LATAM Airlines and Avianca Airlines fly into Lima.

Allow about three hours in between your international and domestic flights to pass through immigration, transfer, and in case of delays.

Take a domestic flight from Lima to Cusco. The airport code is CUZ. Flight time from Lima to Cusco is one hour. It is recommended to book these domestic flights in the morning as weather conditions are typically better and there is less chance of flight delay or cancelation

A valid passport is required for all foreign visitors to Peru. An entry visa is not required for American or Canadian nationals. Please inquire with the nearest Peruvian consulate for entry requirements for other nationalities.

What is the weather like in Peru?

June – August is the dry season in the Peruvian highlands and it is typically sunny with blue skies. Temperatures are in the low-mid 60-70s F during the day and 40-50s F in the evenings. It is the best time to visit the Andean Highlands and Sacred Valley of Peru.

Upon booking the retreat you will receive a pre-trip handout that includes a packing list and more information to help in the trip preparation.

What are the meals like?

Peruvian cuisine has become world renowned and with good reason. The meals on the retreat are creative, healthy, and tantalizing to the taste buds! All meals at our retreat lodge in the Sacred Valley are vegetarian. The other locations will have an open menu option. If you have any specific dietary restrictions please let us know in advance to plan meals accordingly with the chef at our retreat lodge.

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Full payment is due no less than 90 days prior to the first day of the retreat. Should you need to cancel your reservation 90 days or more before this date you will receive a refund for payment made less the $600 deposit.

Should you need to cancel less than 90 days before this date, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund or credit unless we can fill your spot. In this case, the deposit less $150 can be refunded or the full deposit transferred to another retreat within one year.

No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing a retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate. In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel a retreat a full refund will be given. We strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance.

Send us a message to receive the full payment/cancelation policy and retreat details by emailing us in the form below.

We look forward to welcoming you on the retreat.

“Everything far surpassed my expectations. As a single traveler I knew that I wanted to really see the country but did not want to navigate on my own so through much consideration booked with Vajra Sol.”

- Beth, New York

“Sandra led such an amazing retreat and it was obvious from the start how much attention she put into planning the trip. Everything was taken care of from the moment we touched down in Cusco until our return back to the airport. We are already looking forward to joining her on a future retreat!”

Kim, California

“I’ve done many other yoga retreats, but this one was THE best. There was a perfect blend of yoga, meditation and touring. I can’t say enough positive things about Sandra and Vajra Sol.”
